J-tunes daily: Tommy heavenly6 - Black papermoon

Song of the day
Tommy heavenly6 - Black papermoon

Sung by Tomoko Kawase under her popular alter-ego pseudonym, Tommy heavenly6. Black papermoon was used as the first opening theme song to the anime adaption of the popular Shōnen manga series, Soul Eater

Whilst working under the title Tommy heavenly6, Tomoko Kawase released five studio albums, Tommy Heavenly6, Heavy Starry Heavenly, I Kill My Heart, February & Heavenly and Tommy Ice Cream Heaven Forever. As well as one compilation album, an extended play and 10 singles, released through Defstar Records between 2003 and 2009, and later through Warner from 2011 onwards.

Black papermoon oozes pop-rock vibes, from its punchy electric guitar driven intro, to Tomoko Kawase's strong and expressive sounding vocals. The song grabs a hold of your attention immediately with its catchy, stylish beat and full, varied instrumentation, whilst Tomoko's attractive and powerful vocalisations compliment the ensemble perfectly, resulting a in truly memorable and engaging piece. Black papermoon is a fine song that I often find myself coming back to again and again.
